Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Langley Heritage Society. Volunteers help keep our society running and vibrant — and preserve Langley’s heritage.

What would I do?

We have opportunities for volunteers in most areas at the CN Station. Volunteers are needed in the rail cars, inside the station and the 1950s era model railway in the caboose.

The Station is open from the May Long Weekend until the Cranberry Festival on Thanksgiving weekend. The days are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Other opportunities are available to assist with display tents during Canada Day, Country Celebration at Campbell Valley Park in September, and other displays or special events. Whether you would like to work behind the scenes or in the public eye, we have something to offer.

Do I need to know lots about Langley’s Heritage or the Fort Langley CN Station?

You don’t need to have any knowledge about these to volunteer. Whatever your volunteering role, you will be given full training.

What’s in it for the Langley Heritage Society?

Volunteers are our lifeblood. We currently have a number of volunteers working at the station, with one full time staff. They meet the public and act as guides, answer questions or just listen to our guests’ stories. We also need volunteers to help with the model train in the caboose, but some special skills will be needed to work in this area.

What’s in it for me?

People volunteer for many reasons, and the Langley Heritage Society can offer opportunities to:

  • Meet people
  • Share and pass on skills
  • Gain experience
  • Learn about local history
  • Provide a challenge
  • Develop or improve skills
  • Build confidence
  • Improve quality of life
  • Add to CV
  • Gain a reference

This list is by no means exhaustive and we are sure we can find you a fulfilling volunteer role.

Thank you for your interest.
